All To Know About Professional Rear Differential Repair

Rear Differential Repair

Fullerton Rear Differential Repair

Many Fullerton drivers aren’t aware of their vehicles differential or transaxle until something stops working. To help you out before theirs’s a problem Orozco’s Auto Service would like to share some helpful information. Years ago before front wheel drive came along, the majority of vehicles had a rear differential with a few exceptions such as Corvairs and Volkswagens. Four wheel drive and all wheel drive vehicles also have different types of differentials. Nowadays and as before every vehicle has a some type of differential or transaxle, whether you have a rear one or not depends on the drive system. So what is a differential and how does it impact my vehicle?

If your vehicle has front-wheel drive, then it uses a front differential that is next to the transmission in a unit called the transaxle. A vehicle with rear-wheel drive has a rear differential that sits between the rear wheels and connects to the transmission through the drive shaft. Both front and rear differentials do the same thing, which is ensuring the your wheels move smoothly when you move around corners— just from different locations. But why does it smooth out your turns you ask? Simply put, a differential is a system that transmits your engine’s torque to the wheels. The differential takes the power from the engine and divides it, allowing the wheels to spin at different speeds when needed. Think of it as a marching band moving around a corner. The people on the outside of the turn take longer strides than the people on the inside to keep everyone in a perfect line. A differential acts in the same way for a car. It compensates for how the inner wheels don’t have to travel as far to get around a corner as the outer wheels.

As previously mentioned, four wheel drive vehicles have two differentials making things a bit different on these all terrane vehicles. Additionally all-wheel-drive vehicle has a third type of differential called a center differential. It helps distribute power between the front and rear axles since both do the job of steering your car. With four-wheel drive, there is a front and rear differential that’s called a transfer case located in the middle to manage and deliver power to all four wheels. These systems have the same goal as the others: ensuring smooth turns keeping the wheels from skipping or jumping.

If your differential isn’t working properly, there are several signs you may notice before it completely fails. Tire damage on the sidewall or outer tread of a tire, your car may becomes difficult to handle and doesn’t easily steer around corners well, the sound of grinding gears or a whining noise are also indicators that you should have your differential checked. Luckily, Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton has the knowhow on how to repair or replace this critical component of your vehicle. Our ASE certified technicians can repair your differential or transaxle in no time and back up that repair with a NAPA nationwide 2 year, 24,000 mile warrant.

If you’ve notice any of the previously mentioned signs of a failing differential, or If you would like to have your vehicle inspected, contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

How To Fix Your Fuel Pump Repair Without Too Much Trouble

Fuel Pump Repair

Fullerton Fuel Pump Repair

Fuel pump repair in Fullerton can be a bit complicated due to the fact that most vehicles it’s located inside the gas tank. The good news is that Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton is just around the corner and ready to help you out with any of your fuel injection issues, including sharing this important information. Your vehicle’s fuel pump is the heartbeat of your vehicle’s fuel system. Like your heart pumping blood throughout your body, the fuel pump sends precious fuel through your vehicle and if it stops so will your ride. Luckily, a faulty fuel pump isn’t very common in newer vehicles but when you get  a few years miles logged in things start to wear out.

As previously mentioned, most fuel pump are located inside the gas tank and attaches to a float and electrical connections that relay that information to your fuel gage. It sucks up fuel and sends it through lines to the injectors, which meter out the proper quantity for the most efficient combustion in your engine. Today’s fuel pumps meet manufacturer specifications for fuel volume. If it doesn’t meet up to these standards, you will run into all sorts of problems.

If your fuel pump is on it’s starting to wear out there are a few signs you’ll notice before getting stranded. Some of the more obvious signs are your vehicle can suddenly feels sluggish or a faulty ignition, engine misfires, lowered gas mileage, weak acceleration and whining noises can all mean you may want to visit Orozco’s Auto Service.

Additional issues may be low fuel pressure, you may have trouble starting your vehicle. It may crank longer than normal before firing up, or you might have to cycle the ignition on and off several times to prime the necessary pressure. Once it runs, you might get a rough idle or stuttering while driving up hills or upon acceleration. It may even just stall out and die, or it might result in misfires.

You may find that your engine temperature is higher than usual, as it struggles to keep up with uneven fuel supply. Occasionally, a failing pump will cause an engine to surge, because it’s no longer capable of consistent volume. You might hear the fuel pump itself struggling, which sounds like a whining or loud buzzing noise coming from your gas tank. Lastly, you may notice at the gas station when filling your tank: Fuel pumps on their way out reduce engine efficiency, which means your mileage will decrease, something nobody wants these days.

Note that most of the above symptoms on their own might have other causes, but if you see one or more together, then it’s time to contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton for a conclusive diagnosis today at 714-525-3239 or stop by. Remember to always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Fantastic Tips About Spark Plugs Replacement In My Tune Up

New Spark Plugs

Fullerton Spark Plugs Replacement

Have you ever been driving past Muchenthaler Park in Fullerton and notice your vehicle is feeling a bit sluggish or your mileage isn’t what it used to be. Then you remember in the morning when you started your vehicle it took a few attempts. Sorry to say but these are all signs that it may be time for new spark plugs. Orozco’s Auto Service certified ASE mechanics are all more than qualified to determine if these problems are indeed worn out spark plugs.

What exactly is a spark plug you ask? Simple put- it’s an insulator and a central conductor. Spark plugs are specified by size, specifically by nut or thread — sealing type and spark gap. The majority of today’s vehicles have a 14-mm thread; older vehicles had used 18-mm or 7/8-inch (approximately 22-mm) ones. Thread length varies as well, depending on the vehicle manufacturer and type of engine. The sealing type or seat is where the plug mates to the head. It can be flat or tapered again, depending on the manufacturer and engine type. Additionally, the amount of torque applied during installation ensures a secure fit. Typically, there is one plug for each cylinder, but there are exceptions. For example, the V8 Hemi engines used in various Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep products have 16 plugs, two per cylinder.

These days, spark plugs last much longer than vehicles of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, with some lasting up to 100,000 miles. Back in the day most vehicles required a tune-up once a year to replace spark plugs and adjust points. Even with today’s high-tech spark plugs still wear out, and if you’re finding it difficult to start your vehicle, it could mean that your spark plugs have met the end of their life. Visual clues may also reveal a bad spark plug. If you remove the plug from the cylinder and notice that the end has burned or sandy-looking deposits have accumulated on the outer electrode, then it’s time to replace it. In a worst-case scenario, a wet accumulation of oil on the electrode may indicate not only that the spark plug is bad but also that there’s significant engine problem.

Other troubling signs include a rough idle, engine misfire or surge, weak acceleration or a spike in fuel consumption. In some vehicles the “check engine” light may come on. Feel free to visit Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton to have your vehicle’s check engine light diagnosed.

Changing spark plugs is a key part of keeping your engine in good working order. Be sure to get yours replaced at the manufacturer’s recommended intervals to ensure peak engine performance. You can find this information in your vehicles user manual. If you feel your vehicle may need new spark plugs or would like to have your vehicle diagnosed contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Remember to always keep your vehicle in good running condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Can An Auto Repair Shop Perform Hybrid Repair? YES!

Hybrid Repair

Fullerton Hybrid Repair

These days everyone is interested in hybrid vehicles.  With all that interest we often get asked if they get a hybrid vehicle do they still need maintenance. And if so where can I get it done. Sorry to say but yes all vehicles electric and hybrid still need to be maintained. Not only do you want your new electric baby to last longer you also will want to ensure it will always be safe to drive. These are critical tasks that should always be addressed on any vehicle. Some of the more common services can be brakes, suspension, tires along with all those fancy bells and whistles on todays new vehicles. Not to mention the hybrids stall have complete combustion engine. And to the second question, Absolutely Yes, our Certified ASE technicians are qualified to work on all types of vehicles. Additionally, our technicians are required to maintain continued education for anything new that comes along as part of their certification.

While all vehicles do need maintenance you be happy to know hybrids don’t require any type of special maintenance. Additionally, the hybrid system can reduce normal wear and tear on some conventional parts of the vehicle. When the electric motor takes over, the gas engine shuts down. Resulting in having far fewer miles than the reading on the odometer. Some manufacturer even suggest going long between oil changes. We always recommend following your auto’s manual for factory recommendations for any service.

Brakes are a component that always needs to be maintained on hybrids but at longer intervals. Hybrid vehicles use regenerative braking that re-directs the friction involved in stopping the to replenish the battery. That energy would otherwise be heat on your brakes and pads. So brake jobs will be fewer and farther between in a hybrid. You aren’t completely off the hook though, as you will still need windshield wipers, tires, light bulbs, and cabin air filters. Not to mention the additional battery weight can sped of the wear on your tires.

Hybrid-specific parts are covered by a warranty of at least eight years and 100,000 miles. Some states, including California, have mandated hybrid warranties of ten years and 150,000 miles, which includes the battery pack. As more hybrids have taken to the road, these packs have become less expensive. And there are stories of many hybrids still on the road with their original battery packs at 200,000 miles or more.

With no gasoline engine at all, electric cars eliminate oil and filter changes, tune-ups, exhaust system maintenance, emissions tests, timing belt replacements and engine repairs. Yes, there is an electric motor, but that motor has few moving parts and requires little in the way of maintenance. And, like the hybrids we mentioned above, electrics use regenerative braking, which converts the friction into energy to replenish the battery instead of letting it become heat on your brakes and brake pads. Similar to the hybrid cars, electrics will require fewer, less frequent brake jobs.

If you’re considering getting a hybrid one thing to factor in is the cost difference low enough to be offset by the savings in gasoline and maintenance? For electrics, you need to consider range. Can the car get you through a typical day without needing a recharge? Is there a charging station at work? Are you willing to pay to have one installed at home? And lastly there’s always that great feeling you’ll have knowing you are doing your part to help save our planet.

Regardless of your decision Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton will always be here to help maintain, service or repair any vehicle. If you would like more information about hybrid or electric vehicles feel free to call Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Head Gasket Repair Tips You Can’t Live Without

Head Gasket Repair

Fullerton Head Gasket Repair

Head gasket repair can be a complicated task due to the complexity of today’s high tech vehicles and it’s most likely the last thing on many Fullerton driver’s minds. But when it needs to be repaired, you’ll know with a little help from Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton. If you keep having to topping off your coolant, or there’s a blue or white smoke coming from your exhaust or when you top off your oil you notice a frothy white substance under the cap then you may have an issue with your head gasket. If a blown head gasket is the problem it’s not exactly the easiest of fixes. More than likely your vehicle may be in the shop for a few days.

In addition to a slew of electronics, hoses, belts batteries, today’s internal engines rely on liquids and gases to function: air-and-fuel, engine coolant and engine oil to be more specific. Engines are designed to keep these liquids and gases from mixing so they can perform their specific functions. And the head gasket is designed just for that task. It’s mounted between the engine block and the cylinder head. This is where the intake, exhaust and valves are also located. The head gasket is a thin seal that prevents liquids and gases from escaping into adjacent cylinders and the surrounding oil and coolant galleries. As previously mentioned the two elements this is designed to keep separate are coolant and engine oil. Just like that old saying oil and water don’t mix! At Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton we have the expertise to keep that oil and coolant separate and to repair that head gasket no matter what you drive.

Still I’m sure you still may be scratching your head wondering “what is a head gasket” so let up help you out.

Engine coolant surrounds each cylinder in order to maintain a stable operating temperature; it also needs to flow into the cylinder heads to cool the combustion chamber, valve and spark plugs. The engine oil performs three important functions: lubrication, cooling and hydraulics. The oil pump sends pressurized oil throughout the engine to lubricate bearings, bushings, journals and timing chains. It also drives hydraulic actuators, such as variable valve timing. As we mentioned before, it’s a complicated repair.

Some of the more common signs that you may notice when there’s a blown head gasket areas follows:

Misfire on startup, accompanied by a puff of white exhaust

An external oil or coolant leak at the seam between the engine block and cylinder head

Blue exhaust smoke could be another indicator

Cylinder misfires are another sign of head gasket failure

Overheating is one of the less-obvious signs of a blown head gasket

Oil-contaminated coolant can form a mayonnaise-like film, which you might find on the radiator cap or in the overflow reservoir

When checking your oil the dipstick can have a dirty frothy consistency

If any of these signs are ignored it can lead to complete engine failure. The engine can over heat resulting in a seized engine, a warped or cracked head or even a blown piston rings, meaning you would need a complete rebuild for your engine. If you are worried you may have a blown or leaking head gasket Orozco’s Auto Service is your answer. Our ASE certified auto technicians have been trained to repair all types of engines and we will always back up those repair with our 24/24 nationwide guarantee. All You Need To Learn About Your Broken Muffler Repair

Muffler Repair

Fullerton Muffler Repair

Muffler repair isn’t on most Fullerton drivers minds until their vehicle sounds like an erupting volcano. They also don’t know how important an exhaust system is for your entire vehicle, beside the obvious task of maintaining your peaceful ride. The exhaust system, which your muffler is part of also directs exhaust fumes away from you and your passengers, it improves engines performance, it improves fuel consumption and lastly your catalytic converter that is part of your exhaust system helps to keep pollutants from escaping into our air. Something

Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton would like to share some information about your exhaust system’s components from your engine to the tailpipe. Your engines exhaust journey begins with the exhaust manifold (sometimes referred to as headers) to remove combustion gases from the cylinders. The manifold is linked to a catalytic converter that cleans up the chemical mixture (pollution) before sending it down the line to a resonator and the muffler, both of which help mute the sound produced when the gases billow through your vehicle’s metal pipes.

With all these working components there’s are several possibilities for an exhaust leak and they can result in that loud traditional broken muffler sound. Each of the exhaust system parts listed above are connected through flanges and welds, and with time and corrosion, these connections can start to loosen. One of the initial signs that exhaust gases are escaping prematurely is a ticking that gets louder or faster when you hit the accelerator. A ticking sound can also indicate that there may be crack in an exhaust manifold or a hole in any part of the exhaust system. Depending on how serious the leak is, it can often be repaired with a patch or a fresh weld with the experts at Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton. If you do hear this ticking noise don’t ignore it, besides leading to a greater leak, it’s also releasing carbon monoxide. Those dangerous gases can get into your vehicle and potentially may you sick or even kill in some circumstances.

Luckily, mufflers don’t just stop working overnight without first giving you a few clues that you may have an exhaust problem. Mufflers will usually last from 40,000 to 80,000 miles depending on the weather conditions in your area. Excessive water and salt on the the roads for snow can speed up the degradation which will in turn get incrementally louder as the interior chambers and sound-deadening materials break down. It’s not always easy to detect initially, but eventually you’ll notice that your vehicle is getting significantly louder. This generally means either there’s a large break in the exhaust system or your muffler that’s on its way out. Either way, this is a great time to stop Orozco’s Auto Service. Our ASE auto technicians all well trained to handle any exhaust system and will have you back to your quiet ride in no time.

If your vehicle is getting louder in the exhaust or you hear any new ticking sounds or are not sure and would like to have your exhaust system inspected, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Remember to always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Key Tips For Ensuring Emergency Brake Repair

Emergency Brake Repair

Parking Brake Repair | Emergency Brake Repair

There’s nothing more annoying than forgetting to disengage your emergency brake before starting to drive off. It seems like it never has the same strength again after that. Even though today’s vehicles are always continuing to improve luxury, function and accessories you may still have some questions about your emergency and or parking brake. Why do some vehicles have a parking brake, and some have an emergency brake and now more vehicles are coming with an electronic brake? Also does Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton repair or inspect them when I go in for service? Lastly why does my emergency / parking brake seem less effective over time?

Depending on your vehicle’s manufacturer the emergency brake and parking brake are essentially the same thing. This component of your vehicle has to perform two distinct tasks. It needs to be able to hold the vehicle on an incline, and be able to stop your vehicle within a specific distance if the hydraulic brakes fail. Second, absolutely, Orozco’s Auto Service will inspect and suggest any repairs necessary to ensure your vehicle is safe to drive when you stop in for any service.

Whether it’s an older vehicle or new one, all vehicles have at least two brake systems. The “service brake” is your primary brake system, the one that activates when you engage the brake pedal. A booster amplifies the force, sending hydraulic pressure to the brakes at each wheel. The secondary brake system the parking / emergency brake is independent of the hydraulic brake system, controlled by by levers or cables.

Over time or when you forget to disengage the brake, the secondary brake system’s cables can become stretched out, which creates slack that increases the lever or pedal to completely secure your vehicle. If all the adjustments are maxed out, the cable should be replaced. This isn’t something any weekend car repair enthusiast should perform on their own. Brakes are a crucial element of your vehicle’s safety system and should only be worked on by someone like the certified ASE mechanics at Orozco’s Auto Service.

Lastly, a growing number of vehicles are equipped with electronic parking brakes that automatically engage the parking brake when the transmission is shifted into park or a lever or button is activated. This system is great because it can reduce the length of the cable or eliminate cable all together. Some systems even have a program built in that self adjusts slack in the system that runs at regular intervals.

If you believe your vehicle’s brake system needs service or are not sure and would like to have your brakes inspected, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Please always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Need Help With Power Steering Repair? Try These Tips

Power Steering Repair

Fullerton Power Steering Repair

Have you ever started turning onto Orangethorpe Avenue in Fullerton and thought what would happen if I lost power steering right now? If so, first of all, don’t panic. Your vehicle’s power steering provides you with an electronic or hydraulic assist in turning your front wheels. If you’re moving at a decent speed you may not even notice it, until you start to slow down. At that point trying to turn the steering wheel is difficult but with a little muscle you will be able to pull over and make it to a safe stop or your friends at Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton.

There Are Two Kinds of Power Steering

Electrical Power Steering relies on a electrical motor and sensors on the steering column. By analyzing the input from the steering wheel, the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) then sends a signal to an electronic motor, which is located at the base of the steering column. This motor then turns and aids the driver with the steering process.

Hydraulic Power Steering System relies on a hydraulic pump, the engine’s power, and the hydraulic fluid to steer the vehicle. With the combination of the hydraulic pump and the vehicle’s engine, it applies force on the steering gear by pumping hydraulic fluid to the power steering pump. The power steering fluid is stored in a depressurized form within the power steering reservoir, and only when needed does the power steering pump pressurize the fluid and deliver it to assist you in steering.

What can you do if your power steering goes out?

Besides not panicking the first thing to do when you’ve lost power steering is communication. As in any emergency situation on or off the road is it’s vital to let others around you know that something has gone wrong. The simplest way to do this is to activate your hazard lights so that everyone around you will notice that you are starting to slow down or that there may be an issue with your vehicle.  It’s always a good idea to know were the hazard lights button is located when driving in a new vehicle.

As you gently lower your speed, keep a firm grip on the wheel at all times and don’t hit your brakes too hard, especially if the road conditions are wet or icy. Lack of power steering will make the wheel feel heavy in your hands, and it will also make the front wheels less responsive to your actions. Maintain keeping calm and ease into the brakes slowly.

Knowing what to do if you lose power steering eventually comes down to looking for a safe spot on the side of the road where you can pull over without incident. You will still be able to steer the vehicle, even if it’s more difficult. Remember that turning the wheel requires more effort as your vehicle slows down. Give yourself as much room to turn as possible. Even though the turning radius of the vehicle hasn’t changed, your ability to make that turn quickly will be reduced.

Once you get your vehicle to a safe spot, if the power steering is completely out, this may be the right time to call for a tow truck. Driving a vehicle with no power steering can be a challenge for even the best of drivers, so if you don’t feel safe driving, always side with caution and get help.

There are some signs you can be aware of that your power steering may soon be in need of repair. You may notice a whining or squealing noise. It could be difficult turning the steering wheel. You may notice a leak of power steering fluid near the steering gear or rack, this is usually a red fluid. Your vehicle may wanders or pulls to one side. This could be a premature steering gear is worn and or can be caused by lack of lubrication from power steering fluid.

If you are concerned about any of your power steering or you would like to have your steering inspected call the experts at Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Remember to always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Excellent Information About Engine Repair Near Me

Engine Repair Near Me

Fullerton Engine Repair And More

There’s nothing more annoying than driving down Orangethorpe Avenue and your vehicle is suddenly making a new noise,  or there’s a different type of smoke coming from the tail pipe or a few drops of oil on the driveway. It’s always a bad timing when one of these little repair shows up and you’re never ready to have to spend your hard earned money on your vehicle. Even our Fullerton weekend DIY folks sometimes put off these repairs because it’s a dirty job or can eat up their entire day off. Sadly, these types of minor issues may not stop you from maintaining your regular driving routine, but if you ignore them for too long you may need a tow truck. Here are few repairs you should not put off too long before they become a costly repair and visit Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton.

WORN SHOCKS / STRUTS
Worn out shocks and struts seem to always sneaking up on you. It’s not like they go bad overnight, but when they are at the end of their service life they may as well not be there at all. Shocks and struts take a lot of abuse like pot holes and speed bumps and that would normally be transmitted to other chassis components. Without that initial protection, those chassis parts wear out quick. Shocks are usually fairly straightforward to replace, and strut replacement has become easier thanks to the availability of modular strut assemblies. Once the job is done, the difference will be immediately apparent on your ride.

FLUID LEAKS
If you have been topping off your oil for a long time rather than finding the leak, it is time to schedule an appointment with Orozco’s Auto Service. While a small fluid drip may be annoying on your driveway, it can also coat your engine and damage other more sensitive components. Delaying that power steering pump leak repair will sure seem silly when it floods into the alternator and your vehicle wont start. So do yourself and your driveway a favor and get it fixed.

FAILING CV AXLES
You know you’ve already been warned your CV boots are torn, but there’s no way to know just when the joint inside will start to fail. If you’re hearing a clicking and popping when turning left or right, then it’s time for new axles. Waiting too long could lead to dangerous driveline vibrations and possibly even failure of the axle assembly itself. Make the time and contact Orozco’s Auto Service.

EXHAUST LEAKS
While the noise from an exhaust leak can sometimes be fixed by turning up the radio, an exhaust leak can also lead to dangerous fumes finding their way into the passenger compartment. In extreme cases a leak can also burn or melt nearby components. Unfortunately they can also be hard to track down, especially when buried in the engine compartment. Cast iron manifolds can crack, bolts can break, gaskets can fail, and exhaust pipes can rust through. The straight forward repair is to let Orozco’s Auto Service replace the offending part.

Have A Healthy Car – With Air Filter Replacement

Change Your Air Filter

Fullerton Engine Air Filter and Cabin Air Filter Replacement

Many drivers in Fullerton know their vehicle has an air filter but not many drivers know it has two. And even less people know how important those filters are in keeping you and your vehicle healthy. The first air filter and more commonly know is the engine’s air filter, the second, less known but just as important is the cabin air filter. They both do as they are self described, as in “filter air” but work in different areas of your vehicle. Additionally, your air filters should be replaced at the intervals recommended by your vehicles manufacturer, but even that might not be frequent enough. If you drive in dusty areas like the freeways in and around Fullerton, and particularly if you go off-road, filters can get dirty more quickly, and they will need to be replaced more often than what’s recommended.

Here’s some more helpful information about your air filters.

Cabin Air Filter
This filter is sometimes less know due to the fact that it’s usually hidden in a compartment behind or under your glovebox. The cabin air filter maintains the air that comes into your vehicle through your heating and air conditioning system. Essentially acting as an air purifier for inside your vehicle. Nobody wants to breathe in dirty air, if your cabin air filter is dirty, then you may notice reduced air circulation, diminished performance of your air conditioning and heating, or a musty odor. You might even hear a whistling noise from the vents if something larger gets into your vents. Lastly, if you ignore this filter for too long it can develop mold spores that can effect you and or your passengers health. The best way to maintain that fresh air is to visit Orozco’s Auto Service and allow one of their certified ASE mechanics to check and possibly replace the filter at your vehicle’s manufacturer’s recommended intervals.

Engine Air Filter
This filter maintains one of the three essential element that keep your engine running. All combustion engines both standard gasoline or diesel engine require air, fuel and fire to run. The engine air filter reduces contaminates like dirt, bugs, dust, leaves, debris and anything else that may get sucked into your vehicle’s air intake system. Once the air filter has reached it’s limits of capacity for all that debris it will start effecting your engine. You may notice reduced fuel economy, performance, strange noises coming from your engine, misfiring cylinders or your check engine light make come on. Thankfully, this can all be avoided by visiting Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton getting an inspection of your vehicles air intake system.

If you are concerned about your air filters or you would like to have them inspected call or visit Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Remember to always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

The CV boot is a small rubber encasement that covers the CV joint and keeps grease packed inside. A damaged CV boot can exposed your CV joint and will begin to fail over time. The CV Joint essentially keeps your axle from breaking when you hit a bump, and keeps your wheels aligned and turning. There are actually two of them on an axle: one at the transmission and one at the wheel. Auto Catalytic Converter Repair With This Advice

Catalytic Converter Repair

Fullerton Catalytic Converter Repair

Catalytic converters play a crucial role in a vehicle’s exhaust system and are found in most modern street legal vehicles. Their function is to superheat unburned particles in exhaust gases and turn them into water vapor and carbon dioxide. The catalyst in the converter, typically made of platinum, rhodium, or palladium, can make it a target for theft due to its high value.

Replacing a catalytic converter is a complex process that requires welding, and is best left to professionals like those at Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton. It may also involve replacing the vehicle’s oxygen sensors. One of the leading causes of a failing catalytic converter is consistent short trips that don’t allow the exhaust to heat up enough to burn off deposits. To prevent this, it’s recommended to take the vehicle on a highway drive of at least 15 minutes every so often.

A failing catalytic converter may display symptoms such as a check engine light, decreased power and fuel efficiency, a rotten egg smell, backfiring or misfiring, and a rough running engine. If the converter is not functioning properly, the check engine light will come on and the engine’s power and fuel economy will drop. If the converter becomes completely clogged, the check engine light will flash and the engine may stall or not start. Extreme clogging can also cause internal engine damage from excess back pressure. A vehicle with a failing catalytic converter will fail a smog check and cannot be registered.

At Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton, we recommend addressing any catalytic converter related symptoms as soon as possible to prevent expensive repairs and engine damage. Regular maintenance, including highway drives, can extend the life of your catalytic converter and save you money in the long run.

If your vehicle has any of the above signs or you feel your catalytic converter needs an inspection call Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Check Out This Excellent Source For U-Joint Repair

U Joint Repair

Fullerton U-Joint Repair

The driveshaft is an important component in rear wheel drive vehicles that enables the proper rotation of the tires. It acts as a connection between the transmission and the rear tires, transmitting the power produced by the engine to the tires. The driveshaft is supported by U-joints, which are spherical bearings that provide flexibility and enable the driveshaft to function smoothly.

However, if the U-joints are not properly lubricated, they can wear down over time and cause various problems. This includes a bumpy ride, clunking or banging noises during gear changes, and noticeable vibration in the seat or throughout the car. The vibration and noise can also be felt in the seat or throughout the vehicle. The U-joints play an essential role in supporting the driveshaft, which is subjected to significant amounts of force. If the U-joints fail, the driveshaft will not be properly supported, leading to increased vibration and wear.

To avoid these problems, it is essential to keep the U-joints well-lubricated. Some of the signs that suggest it is time to replace the U-joints include noticeable vibration, abnormal noises from under the vehicle, and the presence of red or pink fluid (transmission fluid) on the ground. In such cases, it is advisable to contact a certified ASE service advisor at Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton for an inspection and replacement, if necessary.

In conclusion, the driveshaft and U-joints are critical components in rear wheel drive vehicles that enable the smooth rotation of the tires. Proper lubrication of the U-joints is essential to avoid problems such as vibration and wear. If you experience any symptoms that suggest it may be time to replace the U-joints, it is recommended to seek professional assistance from a certified ASE service advisor.

If your vehicle is showing any of the above systems, or If you would like to have your u-joints inspected contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Finding The Right Auto Repair For Oxygen Sensor Repair

Oxygen Sensor Repair

Fullerton Oxygen Sensor Repair

The oxygen sensor is a vital component in a vehicle’s exhaust system, but many Fullerton drivers may not be aware of its significance in keeping their car performing safely and efficiently. It has a direct impact on emissions, and a faulty sensor can affect not just the engine, but the environment as well.

When an oxygen sensor fails, it can trigger the “check engine” light and reduce fuel economy. This sensor, which is the size of a spark plug, has a lifespan of 35,000 to 50,000 miles.

Most vehicles have at least one oxygen sensor in their exhaust system, which measures the difference in oxygen levels between the exhaust gas and outside air. It then sends a voltage signal to the car’s computer, which adjusts the air-fuel mixture to optimize engine performance.

If the sensor is not working correctly, it can lead to an increase in emissions and poor fuel efficiency. The engine may also default to a predetermined air-fuel mixture, resulting in either too rich or too lean a mixture, causing stuttering or loss of power. This can create deposits in the engine and cause damage to other components such as the catalytic converter, leading to bigger problems down the road.

However, drivers in Fullerton can rest easy knowing that Orozco’s Auto Service has the diagnostic tools to detect a faulty oxygen sensor. Their certified ASE technicians can replace it quickly and get drivers back on the road with a properly functioning engine that has optimized fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. By maintaining their vehicles and ensuring that the oxygen sensor is working correctly, drivers can help to protect the environment and improve air quality for everyone.

If you are concerned about your vehicle’s oxygen sensor or you would like to have a diagnostic test call or visit Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Fullerton Power Steering Fluid Near Me

Before driving your vehicle around Fullerton with a fluid leak, it is important to understand the potential consequences. For instance, a leak of power steering fluid on the ground or a low level in the reservoir can lead to accidents if unexpected situations arise and you cannot react quickly. Additionally, fluid leaks can cause damage to your car, which can be expensive to repair or replace.

If you suspect that your car has a power steering fluid leak, it may be possible to continue driving it until you can have the leak repaired and the fluid replaced by a professional auto service. However, it is crucial to monitor the leak and follow specific guidelines to avoid further damage. ASE certified mechanics at Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton can help you fix your power steering quickly and affordably.

Your power steering rack will not function correctly, leading to a significant increase in steering effort, especially at low speeds, making it extremely difficult to steer.

Driving your car for extended periods without power steering fluid can cause damage to the pump. When the level drops, the pump runs dry, resulting in increased friction and heat that can quickly lead to expensive damage. If you need to drive your car with no power steering fluid, try to avoid extreme turns to the left or right, and replace the fluid as soon as possible.

Great Auto Repair Tips for Wheel Bearings Repair

Wheel Bearings Repair

Fullerton Wheel Bearings Repair

In Fullerton, many drivers are unaware of their vehicle’s wheel bearings and the risk of failure, which may require repairs. Knowing about this part and its function can help detect when repairs are necessary. Fortunately, Orozco’s Auto Service in Fullerton has professionals who can provide assistance in understanding wheel bearings, their function, and signs indicating the need for replacement.

Wheel bearings are essential in reducing friction, allowing wheels to spin smoothly. They are enclosed in small rings in the wheel hub assembly and come in two common types: ball bearings and roller bearings. Roller bearings are small cylinders located in a cylinder housing, easily accessible for repairs, but they can be contaminated by dirt and grime. Ball bearings, on the other hand, are sealed, keeping them free from dirt and grit, but they cannot be serviced and must be replaced if something goes wrong.

Generally, wheel bearings last between 75,000 and 100,000 miles, depending on the vehicle and driving conditions. Symptoms of failing wheel bearings include unusual noises like clicking, grinding, or humming, as well as uneven tire wear. Loose steering or vibrations in the steering wheel are also signs of potential issues. Wheel lock is a severe symptom indicating that the bearings are damaged to the point where they cease to move. A dashboard warning light may indicate that either the ABS or traction control system is malfunctioning.

If you detect any of these symptoms, it’s best to contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton and have the bearings replaced. Replacing a single bearing is usually not feasible, and the job typically requires replacing the entire wheel hub assembly. Delaying the replacement of failing wheel bearings could cause additional damage to your vehicle, so prompt replacement is recommended.

If your vehicle is showing any of the above signs or you believe your vehicle’s needs it’s power steering fluid topped off or are not sure and would like to have your vehicle inspected, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239.  Always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Top Money Saving Tips On Fuel Injection Repair

fuel injection repair

Fullerton Fuel Injection Repair

If you are a driver in Fullerton, it is crucial to be aware that a faulty fuel injector can lead to engine damage over time. A fuel injector is an electronically operated mechanical device that is responsible for injecting an appropriate amount of gasoline into the engine to ensure optimal combustion. The injector must disperse fuel at the correct pressure, angle, and spray pattern for the engine to run smoothly.

To keep your vehicle running properly, it is essential to maintain your fuel injection system in good working condition. The following are some signs that your vehicle may require fuel injection repair:

  • Knocking sounds and excessive vibration may result from a partially blocked fuel injector, which hinders the appropriate amount of fuel from entering the engine cylinder.
  • A faulty fuel injector can cause an engine misfire and turn on the engine management light. Depending on which injector is affected, various management lights may illuminate.
  • Starting trouble or a total inability to start may be due to a leaky injector, which can cause the fuel pressure in the fuel rail to decrease. If you detect unburnt gasoline coming from the engine bay, it may be an indication of a leaky fuel injector.
  • A malfunctioning fuel injector can decrease the overall fuel efficiency of your engine. If the injector is not functioning correctly, the engine control unit may over-fuel and use more fuel than necessary.
  • Even if the injectors are just dirty, a poorly performing fuel injector can affect the engine’s torque, acceleration, and power.
  • The solenoid at the top of the fuel injector generates a magnetic field that pulls up the injector pintle when it is energized. If the injector does not operate correctly, the magnetic field may not be potent enough to open the injector entirely. Resistance difficulties with the injector solenoid can also cause other issues.

Regular maintenance and timely fuel injector repairs are critical for maintaining the good working order of your engine components. With proper care, your fuel injector can last the life of the engine.

If your vehicle has any of the above signs or you feel your vehicle’s fuel injection needs service or are not sure and would like to have it diagnosed, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Garden Grove today at 714-525-3239. Always keep your vehicle in good condition to ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Helpful Hints For Those Needing Wheel Alignment

Wheel Alignment

If you’re driving along the 57 freeway in Fullerton and feel your vehicle pulling to one side when you release the steering wheel, it could be a cause for concern, especially on wet roads. To avoid the risk of accidents, it’s recommended that you take your car to Orozco’s Auto Service in Fullerton for a wheel alignment.

Proper wheel alignment is crucial because tires are the only contact point between your vehicle and the road. When your wheels are correctly aligned, the tires ride at the correct angle on the road. It’s suggested that you have your vehicle’s alignment checked every 6,000 miles or as advised by the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule. If you notice uneven tread wear, your car drifting to one side, or your steering wheel is off-center when driving straight, you should have it checked earlier.

During a wheel alignment service at Orozco’s Auto Service, your car is placed on an alignment rack, lifted, and checked for the current status of the alignment. Adjustments are made to the toe, caster, and camber angles (if applicable) to ensure that the wheels make the proper contact with the road. It’s important to note that wheel alignment and tire balancing are not the same, although they are often performed together. Balancing involves adjusting for subtle weight variations around each individual tire and wheel to ensure they spin straight without excess vibration or wobble.

Overall, proper wheel alignment is essential for your safety while driving, and it can also help prolong the lifespan of your tires and improve your ride comfort. If you suspect that your vehicle needs a wheel alignment, it’s important to take it to a reputable auto shop  such as Orozco’s Auto Service.

If your vehicle is showing any of the above signs or you believe your vehicle’s wheels are out of alignment or are not sure and would like to have your wheels inspected, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Did You Know Orozco’s Can Replace Windshield Wipers

Replace Windshield Wipers

Fullerton Replace Windshield Wipers

Fullerton, California may be known for its sunny weather, but residents can still experience occasional rain showers. Unfortunately, due to the infrequency of precipitation, many drivers neglect to maintain their windshield wipers. It’s not until they’re caught in a downpour that they realize their wipers are no longer effective. This negligence can result in a blurry and potentially dangerous view of the road. However, maintaining your wiper blades is an essential and straightforward task, similar to checking tire pressure or refueling, that can prevent these issues.

At Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton, we inspect windshield wipers during every service appointment. We evaluate the quality of your wipers and recommend replacement if necessary, ensuring that you’re not caught in the rain with ineffective wipers.

In Garden Grove’s hot summers, windshield wipers typically last between six months to a year. If your wiper blades are several years old, don’t worry; it’s never too late to start practicing good wiper maintenance habits.

You can tell when your wipers need replacement by looking for streaks on the windshield and worn rubber on the blades. Worn blades can leave streaks and shudder as they sweep across the windshield. The rubber on your wiper blades should be pliable and free of cracks or tears. If it’s not, then it’s time to replace them.

If you’re concerned about the condition of your windshield wipers or would like them inspected, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. By keeping your vehicle in good condition, you’ll ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

The Best Advice About Cam Shaft Repair

Cam Shaft Repair

Fullerton Camshaft Repair

If you hear unusual sounds like backfiring, popping, tapping noise from the top of the engine, or experience a dead miss or loss of engine power while driving in Fullerton, it may indicate a problem with your camshaft. Orozco’s Auto Service in Fullerton is recommended in such a scenario.

The camshaft is a critical component of an internal combustion engine, consisting of thousands of parts, including over 200 moving parts. A vehicle’s engine cannot function without a camshaft, and if it is damaged, the engine’s performance suffers.

Understanding the workings of a camshaft can be challenging for those who do not have the opportunity to take apart a car engine. The role of the camshaft and its impact when not functioning correctly is worth exploring.

When fuel and air mix and ignite, the engine’s pistons move up and down in its cylinders, and the valves at the top of the cylinders need to open and close to allow oxygen in and expel the exhaust gases produced by the explosion.

According to experts at Orozco’s Auto Service, the camshaft is responsible for opening and closing each cylinder’s valves at the correct moment and duration. The camshaft comprises “lobes” or “cams” that push rocker arms while the camshaft rotates. This rotation raises the outside of the rocker arm, allowing the inside to press on the valve and open it. As the camshaft continues to rotate, the rocker arm returns to its initial position, releasing the pressure on the valve, and the valve spring closes the valve. This precise timing with the vehicle’s ignition ensures smooth engine operation and efficient power production.

Camshafts can be driven by a belt, chain, or gear set. Some engines have camshafts that are pushed from below, while others sit on top of the motor and work from “overhead.” The latter design may feature a pair of camshafts. Certain cam designs permit the timing of when the valves are open to vary. With a series of computer controls, this can create different power profiles at different engine speeds.

Repairing a camshaft is not recommended due to the manufacturing processes. While some high-performance engines use repairable camshafts, it is usually not practical or cost-effective for the average car on the road. If a car requires a new camshaft, it is best to replace it with a new one, and Orozco’s Auto Service is the optimal choice in this situation.

If your vehicle is showing any of the above signs or you believe your vehicle’s camshaft is damaged or are not sure and would like to have it inspected, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Proper maintenance of automotive hoses includes regular cleaning to remove dirt, debris, and contaminants that can degrade the hoses over time. We recommend using a mild detergent and a soft brush to gently clean the hoses. Thorough rinsing and complete drying are crucial to prevent damage caused by moisture.
