The Best Auto Repair Advice You Will Find

Auto Repair

We know that there are times when your vehicle is having problems or you have a complete breakdown that you may not have the opportunity to get to Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton, if by chance that does ever happen we would like to share some tips to help you while your out of our reach.

Try to avoid the larger chain stores

A smaller family owned auto repair shop may be a better option, due to the fact that they need to build long term relationships with their customers to earn repeat business. Additionally, the day may come when you need to get your previous repair records for routine maintenance of fluids and parts and having them spread out to several shops may prove difficult in tracking them down.

Always ask an estimate upfront

You should not allow anyone to start working on your car without giving you an estimate for how much the work is expected to cost. In many states you are entitled to: An estimate – Before beginning any repairs, the auto shop must provide you with an estimate showing the estimated price for parts and labor and obtain your authorization. Sometimes the only option available is an estimates given over the phone so even though a written estimate carries more legal weight it may not be feasible. Many times an estimates is simply just an estimates, so it’s possible your bill could be slightly higher, if you see anything that is in excess of that stated amount possibly get a second opinion.

Do your own research

It doesn’t take long to do a little research on your estimate. Many common repairs can be found online to give you a better understanding of what the mechanic may be performing on your vehicle. Sadly some of the less ethical shops out there can try and pad your invoice with non-essential task that most people would over look.

Communicate with as much detail as possible with the service advisor or mechanic

When you bring your vehicle into an auto repair shop try and give the service advisor or mechanic as much information regarding the problem as possible. Letting them know if your vehicle is making strange noises when does that noise or rattle start…while going around corners, just after you start the vehicle and so on. This will give the shop a better directions and they can most likely diagnose the issue sooner and help getting you back on the road quicker.

Learn as much as you can about the auto repair shop

If possible, ask around town and see if they know of the shops reputation. Also consider researching a few online reviews while understanding even a bad review can be insightful if the shop owner responds to the bad review with an effort to resolve the complaint. Additionally, feel free to stop in and check it out before making your decision. Is everyone friendly and professional? Is the shop clean and organized? Just by performing some do diligence can go a long ways into choosing an auto repair shop.

Always follow up with questions regarding repairs

Unfortunately, far to many customers fall into the trap of padded bills. Be it adding additional unnecessary repairs, upping to repair time or even listing repairs that aren’t even performed. Any honest auto repair shop wont be insulted if you ask to see the old parts or even point out the new parts installed if they are in a viewable position on your vehicle.

Follow the the service advisors’ demeaner

The service advisor, is generally your contact person at the front desk and your go between to the auto mechanic. If they are short with repair descriptions or easily agitated when you ask questions this may be the best time to request a manager or find another shop.

We hope these tips will be helpful if you’re ever away from an Orozco’s Auto Service location when you’re in need of emergency auto service. Always drive safe!

Car Care Information For Those With Cars, SUV’s and Trucks

auto care

People often see a commercial for ” Car Care” and don’t know exactly what it means. Well Car Care means exactly what it implies, caring for your car. But what are all these cares and shouldn’t all auto repair shops maintain the care of my car, SUV or Truck? Many auto repair shops may do a great job at a certain tasks not all shops are the same. For instance, when you bring your car, SUV or Truck to Orozco’s Auto Service for maintenance, we give your vehicle a 21 point inspection and then make recommendations for your car’s care. Additionally, we always maintain detailed records of any maintenance or repairs we perform. Another benefit of our regular car care is you can later prove that your vehicle has been well maintained, and this will always pay off when your ready to resell it. Lastly, it’s important to know that regular car care comes at a cost, while it’s not always cheap, it can ultimately help you avoid future costly repairs.

Below are some Car Care tasks you can handle on your own and some that you should leave to the pros at Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton.

Personal Car Care

OIL AND FLUID LEVELS
Every month, or every few gas fill-ups and especially before any longer road trips, it’s a good idea to open the hood of your car and check your fluids. This can include the oil, brake fluid, steering fluid, transmission fluid and coolant levels while the engine is cool. Low levels of either can lead to engine problems if left unchecked. Always refer to your owner’s manual to locate the inspection ports on your specific vehicle.

REPLACE WINDSHIELD WIPERS
Windshield wipers usually need to be replaced about once a year due to the diversity of Los Angeles weather, or if the effectiveness of cleaning your windshield is compromised. One simple trick to check your wipers is use the windshield wiper-washer occasionally to check the effectiveness of your wipers before you’re stuck in the rain.

TIRE PRESSURE
Now days with todays gas prices it’s more important that ever to have well-maintained tires that are not only safe but also fuel-efficient, make it a habit to visually inspect your tires often. Check your tire pressure every month, and before long trips or carrying an extra load. Don’t forget the spare. Always keep a tire pressure gauge in the vehicle, it will be needed to check your tire pressure. Also, during the colder months, note that tire pressure drops one pound with every 10 degree decrease in pressure. Your owner’s manual will tell you how much air pressure your tire needs.

WAX VEHICLE
Waxing your vehicle every six months after washing it won’t just keep it shiny, it’ll also help to keep both the paint in good shape and help reduce the chance of rust. Many road irritants such as dust, sand, and winter road salt can build up and environmental factors like ozone and ultraviolet light can cause microscopic damage, but waxing can help minimize this by forming a protective seal to extend your paint’s life. Always consult with a professional to determine the best automotive wax for your vehicle.

VEHICLE LIGHTS
The lights on your vehicle aren’t just so you can see at night, they are also an import part of driving safely in day or night. Unfortunately, it’s a simple function of your vehicle that can be easily overlooked. Once a month, turn on your headlights when the vehicle parked in front of a flat surface and check that both headlights are working properly and well-positioned. Then walk around your vehicle and visually inspect both turn signals and your parking lights. Have a friend stand behind the car while you engage the brakes to be certain that your brake lights are functional. If you’re on your own you can always back close to a flat surface as stated before in reverse and see through your rear view mirrors if they are working.

AIR FILTER
Your engine’s air filter is what regulates air flow into your engine and help keep out debris and dust particulate. When you make certain that your air filter is flowing properly, you can also improve fuel efficiency, decrease your emissions, and help prolong the life of your engine. This can be done easily at home or a service station when you fill your tank, be sure to check your owner’s manual for instructions and how often it needs to be changed.

Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton – Car Care

OIL & FILTER
The motor oil in your vehicle’s maintains several functions that include: lubricating moving parts, acting as a sealant against debris, helps cools the engine, reduces wear and tear, and helps prevent engine corrosion. Keeping your engine clean is vital for your engine’s good health. Depending on your vehicle and what kind of oil you use, you may need to change both the oil & oil filter every 3 months or 3000 miles. Many newer vehicles’ owners’ manuals will recommend changing your oil less frequently if they are using a synthetic or a synthetic bend oil – often in-between 5,000 and 10,000 miles. Check your vehicle owner’s manual and consult with a Orozco’s Auto Service professional to be certain what is appropriate for your vehicle.

TRANSMISSION FLUID
A lot like the oil in your engine, transmission fluid is a lubricant that helps keep all of the moving parts inside of your transmission functioning properly. Whether you’re driving an automatic or manual transmission vehicle, it is essential that you have your transmission fluid checked and changed when necessary to avoid costly transmission damage or even a replacement. Follow your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations.

INSPECT SHOCKS AND STRUTS
The shocks and struts on your vehicle function to control the impact and rebound as your vehicle moves over bumps in the road and is an essential part of your vehicle’s suspension system. They should be inspected by a professional every 50,000 miles or bring your car into Orozco’s Auto Service if you notice a decrease in smoothness or loss of control when driving.

COOLANT FLUID EXCHANGE
The radiator in your car is a critical component that helps keep your engine cool and working properly. You should regularly have your coolant system flushed, it will help get rid of contaminants that can build up inside as well as ensure that your radiator is filled to the proper level. Always check your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendation to find out how often your coolant should be changed.

SPARK PLUGS
Spark plugs ignite the gas and air mixture in your engine that ultimately powers your vehicle . If one or more of your spark plugs aren’t functioning properly, your engine will lose power and won’t run at optimal capacity. Have a professional check and replace any faulty spark plugs depending on the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations or if you feel a decrease in your engine’s power.

TIRE ROTATION
Depending on your vehicle usage, alignment, and several other factors, the tread wear patterns on your tires may vary between the front and back tires, or even from one side of the tread to the other. Rotating your tires will extend the service life of your tires by more evenly balancing the tread wear, and helping prevent noise and vibration problems.

SERPENTINE BELT
Although it may seem like a simple piece of rubber, your vehicle’s serpentine belt is essential to keeping your car running by powering peripheral devices such as your alternator, power steering pump, and air conditioner compressor. A simple visually inspection of the belt to ensure that it is free of cracks or other wear and tear. Replace id damaged or according to your vehicle manufacture’s recommendation.

FRONT AND/OR REAR DIFFERENTIAL
The differentials are devices that split the torque or power from the engine and allow it to send the proper amount of power to the tires. In front or rear-wheel drive vehicles, there is only one differential, but in 4-wheel and all-wheel drive vehicles, there is both a front and rear differentials, and possibly even a center differential. Like many parts of your vehicle, differentials need to be kept lubricated to ensure reliable functionality. Have a professional check and change fluid whenever your vehicle manufacturer recommends it.

TRANSFER CASE FLUID
In four-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicles, the transfer case is what shifts power from the transmission to the axles. You should have your transfer case fluid checked according to your vehicle’s manufacturer recommendations to be certain that it is properly filled and leak-free. This requires getting under the vehicle, so bringing it into Orozco’s Auto Service or an equivalent professional is recommended.

CHANGE TIRES
Tire wear can depend greatly on driving habits, the function of the vehicle, maintenance, and the road surfaces you regularly drive on. Realizing when you need new tires may be a little tricky for some. They’re curious to know if they absolutely need to replace their tires. There’s a simple answer to all of these kinds of questions; a new set of quality tires will alleviate the stress of worrying about the safety and performance of the tires you have right now. One simple test is to place a penny between the tread grooves with the top of Lincoln’s head nearest to the tire. If you can see any space above the top of the head, it’s a good time to replace your tires. If you feel you need new tires for any reason stop into Orozco’s Auto Service for a complete inspection.

BATTERY CHECK
Batteries are one of the most important components for your vehicle. Car batteries supplies large amounts of electrical current for the starter, engine and other electronic accessories in the vehicle. Extreme temperatures in our desert can affect the performance of your batteries life so regular battery testing will ensure that battery will perform at it’s best.

Why Do I Need An Oil Change

Oil Change

There are so many exuses why to not get your oil changed. I don’t have time, it cost too much, I hate waiting in a dirty waiting room, not to mention the bathrooms and so on. Here at Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton we know how you feel. We and our families have all gone through those same frustrations and that’s why we want to set your mind at ease. First, the easy answers. Orozco’s Auto Service maintains the cleanest of waiting rooms and restrooms. We have severeral options for making appintments over the phone or online. You can also drop off your vehicle and we can drop you off at your home or office within 10 miles. Now for the technical question. What does an oil change do, and why is it important? Something as simple as an oil change may not seem critical to keeping your car running, but neglecting your vehicles oil can cause some serious problems. Here’s why you need to make sure you get an oil change at the manufacturer’s recommended intervals.

There’s a difference between adding oil and changing oil. If you check the dipstick and the oil level is low (most cars will start to burn a little oil as they age), then adding oil is a quick but temporary way to fix the problem and get back on the road.

Changing the oil is a bit more involved, requiring draining the engine of all the old dirty oil and replacing it with fresh oil to the specified level. You also need to get a new oil filter, which helps to keep the fresh oil clean by collecting dirt and debris that the oil captures on its way through your car’s engine. Oil needs to be changed when it gets too dirty to accomplish its mission of keeping the engine components moving smoothly. At Orozco’s Auto Service we do all this and give your vehicle a full inspection along with checking and topping off all fluids that appear low.

Another reason oil changes are so important is because the primary function of your engine’s oil is keeping the metal parts of your engine lubricated. This will prevent any metal-on-metal contact, which can cause engine damage that isn’t cheap to fix. A thin layer of oil on key components keeps them sliding smoothly and reduces friction that would otherwise harm the engine over time. Reducing friction also reduces heat buildup, which can also be a problem for your engine.

Additionally oil keeps it clean. If you look at the contents of a fresh bottle of oil, you’ll notice that it’s more of a golden amber color compared to the brown or black oil on your dipstick. That’s because it’s clean. As oil moves through your engine, it carries away dirt and grime that gradually turns the oil dark. Dark, dirty oil will not do a good job of lubricating or cleaning your engine. You should get your oil changed at the manufacturer’s recommended intervals to ensure that your engine remains clean and running smoothly. Luckily Fullerton isn’t particularly a dirty or dusty environment, but if you travel to that type of climate you should get your oil (not to mention their air filters) changed more often.

Lastly, If you see the oil change light illuminate on your dashboard, is it really a big deal? If all of your warning systems are working correctly, your car likely isn’t in immediate danger of being damaged, but the light coming on is definitely not something to ignore. If it’s on, your oil needs attention. It may just be low and need to be topped off, but if it’s time for an oil change, be sure to make an appointment at Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton within the next few days.

Tips On Car Repair That Anyone Can Understand

Engine Repair Near Me

Car owners in Fullerton know that if you want your car to last, you need to take care of it. Sadly, when we asked of those same Fullerton driver what they need to do to make their cars last longer, their answers were missing some details. For instance, the most common answer was get your oil changed, but with a follow up question of regarding how often you should get your oil changed was all over the board. And that was pretty much the same when asked about their belts and hoses, batteries, engine and coolant fluid, windshield wipers, and so on.

So to help clear up some of the misinformation out there and help you keep your vehicle running as long as possible, here are a some fact from your friends at family owned Orozco’s Auto Service.

Get Regular Oil Changes

Forgetting to get your vehicle’s oil changed is one of the worst and possibly most costly tasks to ignore. It’s better to spend some money now and get the oil changed than to put it off and risk seizing your engine. If you use Standard oil it should be changed every 3,000 miles or 6 months and synthetic oil is every 6,000 miles or 18 months.

Maintenance Tip: Always consult your owners manual for the manufacturers recommendations on changing your oil.

Keep Your Battery & Battery Terminals Clean

If neglected your batteries terminals can begin to show signs of corrosion, this shows as a white powdery substance on the battery terminals. If you don’t keep them clean, your battery can start to malfunction, and possibly leave you stranded. Today like everything else car batteries can be pretty expensive and the luxury brand cars are really expensive. Investing in a wire brush and keeping the terminals clean is time and money well spent.

Maintenance Tip: Visit Orozco’s Auto Service for a battery check every 6 months.

Air Filter Replacement

Your car’s air filters (one in the engine compartment and another (cabin filter) that is generally behind the glove box helps keep pollutants and dust from entering your engine and in through the vents. The air filters have a very important job, so you want to keep them maintained. Additionally, using an old air filter past its life can lead to some major problems for your AC system. Something nobody want to deal with when it’s completely preventable.

Maintenance Tip: You should get your air filters inspected regularly and changed every 12 months or 12,000 mile, sometimes more often in a dry dusty climate.

Windshield Wipers Replacement

The cost of new windshield wipers can vary and that is usually relative to the speed in which they can wear our. With the hot Fullerton sun this may happen sooner than other regions, meaning you you check your wipers more regularly. We recommend checking your wipers at least twice a year so you’re not caught in a sudden rain, be it a summer downpour or a winter storm. Obviously, a dirty windshield or worn out wipers can significantly hamper your view that not only endangers you and your passengers but also the people around you.

Maintenance Tip: Use your windshield wiper’s window cleaning function regularly to stay up-to-date on your windshield wipers effectives.

Get Your Tires Rotated

You can extend the life of your tires by getting them rotated regularly? All four tires on your car do not wear down at the same rate and switching them around will help them to wear more evenly. The front or back set of tires can wear down at different rates depending on your vehicle, your speed and roads conditions. Maintaining to rotate your tires can extend their life and keep you and you family safe longer.

Maintenance Tip: Rotate your tires every 3,000 to 5,000 miles or per your manufacturers recommendations.

Suspension System Inspection

Your suspension system is a very intricate part of your vehicle that most people take for granted. Most of us never even think about it until it stops working and leaving you stranded. One of the key elements of your vehicle’s suspension is the shocks and struts, these help maintain a smooth ride, and ignoring this issue can help to prematurely wear out your tires not to mention causing a very bumpy ride.

Maintenance Tip: Have your full suspension system checked every 15,000 to 30,000 miles.

Check Your Coolant Level

A very important element of your vehicles cooling system is the coolant and should always be maintained at a full level. If your coolant gets to low your vehicle can overheat and do some serious damage to your engine. Your coolant affects so many elements of you car from air conditioner to the heater, radiator and water pump and more. Something that impacts that much of your car’s overall health should never be neglected.

Maintenance Tip: Regularly check your coolant level whenever you get gas or are preparing for a long trip.

Check Your Spare Tire

The last thing anyone wants to find while you’re digging out the jack is a flat spare tire. That’s when you’ll need to call a tow truck—which not only can take several hours out of your day or night, it can also cost you a lot of money depending on where your vehicle brakes down.

Maintenance Tip: Check your tires air pressure, including the spare at least once a month. Maintaining the appropriate air pressure will also help you save gas.

Belts and Hoses

Perform a visual inspection on your belts and hoses at least once a year. Worn-down belts and hoses can cause other damage to essential components of your engine including your cooling system, heater, air conditioner and more. And for those hard to get to belts and hoses feel free to stop by any Orozco’s Auto Service and we will be happy to inspect them.

Maintenance Tip: Follow your vehicles manufacturer’s recommendations for replacing your timing belt and serpentine belt. These are both critical to your engines health and a failure of these components can lead to critical failure in your engine.

At Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton we are happy to help you with any of the above mentioned maintenance and would be happy to work with you on establishing a regular maintenance schedule for your vehicle.

Helpful Advice For Timing Belt Repair

Timing Belt Repair

Your vehicle’s timing belt is the one of the items whose failure could most likely mean the end for your engine. This because if your timing belt wears out it can be catastrophic to your vehicle’s engine. Meaning that the maintenance and the timing of the maintenance on this component is critical.

What Is Timing Belt Repair

Simple put, the timing belt is a ribbed belt that is run in a specific setup on one side of a vehicle’s engine to keep the crankshaft and camshafts timed properly. In essence, it keeps the top half of your engine (valves) synced to the bottom half (crankshaft). If your car is 15 years old or older, it most likely has a timing belt. The best way to determine if your vehicle has a timing belt or not is to refer to the maintenance schedule in your owner’s manual or stop by Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton and one of our ASE trained Service Advisors can look it up for you. Generally  manufacturer’s recommend a maintenance schedule for timing belt replacement differs between vehicles, most timing belts should be replaced every 60,000 miles or 5 years – whichever comes sooner.

There are two types of engine timing configurations that employ timing belts: interference and non-interference. An interference engine means that the valve’s stroke and piston’s stroke occupy the same space in the cylinder at different times, so the timing belt keeps them from colliding with each other. If the timing belt snaps, the cylinder and valves will most likely hit each other, which most commonly causes bent valves but can also result in cylinder head or camshaft damage, and possibly piston and cylinder wall damage. It is possible to get lucky and not suffer any damage from a snapped timing belt on an interference engine, but very unlikely. On a non-interference engine, pistons and valves never occupy the same space, so if the timing belt snaps, no valve or cylinder damage should occur, and theoretically, replacing the broken timing belt will revert your engine to normal function.

If you’re thinking of changing your vehicle’s timing belt is not an easy job to do on your own. It’s much harder than just changing a set of wheels and doing it wrong, especially on an interference-type engine, can result in much more severe and expensive damage. At Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton our ASE trained technicians have the experience to replace all types of timing belts and timing chains on all makes and models. Additionally, all of our work is also back by a nationwide 2 year, 24,000 warranty and can easily be extended to 3 years and 36,000 mile for a nominal fee. Also we know that there’s never a convenient time for a large repair, and that’s why we offer easy financing (OAC) to help get you back on the road as soon as possible.

If your vehicle is ready for Timing Belt Repair or are not sure and would like to have it diagnosed, contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Remember always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

All To Know About Professional Rear Differential Repair

Rear Differential Repair

Fullerton Rear Differential Repair

Many Fullerton drivers aren’t aware of their vehicles differential or transaxle until something stops working. To help you out before theirs’s a problem Orozco’s Auto Service would like to share some helpful information. Years ago before front wheel drive came along, the majority of vehicles had a rear differential with a few exceptions such as Corvairs and Volkswagens. Four wheel drive and all wheel drive vehicles also have different types of differentials. Nowadays and as before every vehicle has a some type of differential or transaxle, whether you have a rear one or not depends on the drive system. So what is a differential and how does it impact my vehicle?

If your vehicle has front-wheel drive, then it uses a front differential that is next to the transmission in a unit called the transaxle. A vehicle with rear-wheel drive has a rear differential that sits between the rear wheels and connects to the transmission through the drive shaft. Both front and rear differentials do the same thing, which is ensuring the your wheels move smoothly when you move around corners— just from different locations. But why does it smooth out your turns you ask? Simply put, a differential is a system that transmits your engine’s torque to the wheels. The differential takes the power from the engine and divides it, allowing the wheels to spin at different speeds when needed. Think of it as a marching band moving around a corner. The people on the outside of the turn take longer strides than the people on the inside to keep everyone in a perfect line. A differential acts in the same way for a car. It compensates for how the inner wheels don’t have to travel as far to get around a corner as the outer wheels.

As previously mentioned, four wheel drive vehicles have two differentials making things a bit different on these all terrane vehicles. Additionally all-wheel-drive vehicle has a third type of differential called a center differential. It helps distribute power between the front and rear axles since both do the job of steering your car. With four-wheel drive, there is a front and rear differential that’s called a transfer case located in the middle to manage and deliver power to all four wheels. These systems have the same goal as the others: ensuring smooth turns keeping the wheels from skipping or jumping.

If your differential isn’t working properly, there are several signs you may notice before it completely fails. Tire damage on the sidewall or outer tread of a tire, your car may becomes difficult to handle and doesn’t easily steer around corners well, the sound of grinding gears or a whining noise are also indicators that you should have your differential checked. Luckily, Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton has the knowhow on how to repair or replace this critical component of your vehicle. Our ASE certified technicians can repair your differential or transaxle in no time and back up that repair with a NAPA nationwide 2 year, 24,000 mile warrant.

If you’ve notice any of the previously mentioned signs of a failing differential, or If you would like to have your vehicle inspected, contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Fantastic Tips About Spark Plugs Replacement In My Tune Up

New Spark Plugs

Fullerton Spark Plugs Replacement

Have you ever been driving past Muchenthaler Park in Fullerton and notice your vehicle is feeling a bit sluggish or your mileage isn’t what it used to be. Then you remember in the morning when you started your vehicle it took a few attempts. Sorry to say but these are all signs that it may be time for new spark plugs. Orozco’s Auto Service certified ASE mechanics are all more than qualified to determine if these problems are indeed worn out spark plugs.

What exactly is a spark plug you ask? Simple put- it’s an insulator and a central conductor. Spark plugs are specified by size, specifically by nut or thread — sealing type and spark gap. The majority of today’s vehicles have a 14-mm thread; older vehicles had used 18-mm or 7/8-inch (approximately 22-mm) ones. Thread length varies as well, depending on the vehicle manufacturer and type of engine. The sealing type or seat is where the plug mates to the head. It can be flat or tapered again, depending on the manufacturer and engine type. Additionally, the amount of torque applied during installation ensures a secure fit. Typically, there is one plug for each cylinder, but there are exceptions. For example, the V8 Hemi engines used in various Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep products have 16 plugs, two per cylinder.

These days, spark plugs last much longer than vehicles of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, with some lasting up to 100,000 miles. Back in the day most vehicles required a tune-up once a year to replace spark plugs and adjust points. Even with today’s high-tech spark plugs still wear out, and if you’re finding it difficult to start your vehicle, it could mean that your spark plugs have met the end of their life. Visual clues may also reveal a bad spark plug. If you remove the plug from the cylinder and notice that the end has burned or sandy-looking deposits have accumulated on the outer electrode, then it’s time to replace it. In a worst-case scenario, a wet accumulation of oil on the electrode may indicate not only that the spark plug is bad but also that there’s significant engine problem.

Other troubling signs include a rough idle, engine misfire or surge, weak acceleration or a spike in fuel consumption. In some vehicles the “check engine” light may come on. Feel free to visit Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton to have your vehicle’s check engine light diagnosed.

Changing spark plugs is a key part of keeping your engine in good working order. Be sure to get yours replaced at the manufacturer’s recommended intervals to ensure peak engine performance. You can find this information in your vehicles user manual. If you feel your vehicle may need new spark plugs or would like to have your vehicle diagnosed contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Remember to always keep your vehicle in good running condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Key Tips For Ensuring Emergency Brake Repair

Emergency Brake Repair

Parking Brake Repair | Emergency Brake Repair

There’s nothing more annoying than forgetting to disengage your emergency brake before starting to drive off. It seems like it never has the same strength again after that. Even though today’s vehicles are always continuing to improve luxury, function and accessories you may still have some questions about your emergency and or parking brake. Why do some vehicles have a parking brake, and some have an emergency brake and now more vehicles are coming with an electronic brake? Also does Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton repair or inspect them when I go in for service? Lastly why does my emergency / parking brake seem less effective over time?

Depending on your vehicle’s manufacturer the emergency brake and parking brake are essentially the same thing. This component of your vehicle has to perform two distinct tasks. It needs to be able to hold the vehicle on an incline, and be able to stop your vehicle within a specific distance if the hydraulic brakes fail. Second, absolutely, Orozco’s Auto Service will inspect and suggest any repairs necessary to ensure your vehicle is safe to drive when you stop in for any service.

Whether it’s an older vehicle or new one, all vehicles have at least two brake systems. The “service brake” is your primary brake system, the one that activates when you engage the brake pedal. A booster amplifies the force, sending hydraulic pressure to the brakes at each wheel. The secondary brake system the parking / emergency brake is independent of the hydraulic brake system, controlled by by levers or cables.

Over time or when you forget to disengage the brake, the secondary brake system’s cables can become stretched out, which creates slack that increases the lever or pedal to completely secure your vehicle. If all the adjustments are maxed out, the cable should be replaced. This isn’t something any weekend car repair enthusiast should perform on their own. Brakes are a crucial element of your vehicle’s safety system and should only be worked on by someone like the certified ASE mechanics at Orozco’s Auto Service.

Lastly, a growing number of vehicles are equipped with electronic parking brakes that automatically engage the parking brake when the transmission is shifted into park or a lever or button is activated. This system is great because it can reduce the length of the cable or eliminate cable all together. Some systems even have a program built in that self adjusts slack in the system that runs at regular intervals.

If you believe your vehicle’s brake system needs service or are not sure and would like to have your brakes inspected, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Please always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Need Help With Power Steering Repair? Try These Tips

Power Steering Repair

Fullerton Power Steering Repair

Have you ever started turning onto Orangethorpe Avenue in Fullerton and thought what would happen if I lost power steering right now? If so, first of all, don’t panic. Your vehicle’s power steering provides you with an electronic or hydraulic assist in turning your front wheels. If you’re moving at a decent speed you may not even notice it, until you start to slow down. At that point trying to turn the steering wheel is difficult but with a little muscle you will be able to pull over and make it to a safe stop or your friends at Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton.

There Are Two Kinds of Power Steering

Electrical Power Steering relies on a electrical motor and sensors on the steering column. By analyzing the input from the steering wheel, the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) then sends a signal to an electronic motor, which is located at the base of the steering column. This motor then turns and aids the driver with the steering process.

Hydraulic Power Steering System relies on a hydraulic pump, the engine’s power, and the hydraulic fluid to steer the vehicle. With the combination of the hydraulic pump and the vehicle’s engine, it applies force on the steering gear by pumping hydraulic fluid to the power steering pump. The power steering fluid is stored in a depressurized form within the power steering reservoir, and only when needed does the power steering pump pressurize the fluid and deliver it to assist you in steering.

What can you do if your power steering goes out?

Besides not panicking the first thing to do when you’ve lost power steering is communication. As in any emergency situation on or off the road is it’s vital to let others around you know that something has gone wrong. The simplest way to do this is to activate your hazard lights so that everyone around you will notice that you are starting to slow down or that there may be an issue with your vehicle.  It’s always a good idea to know were the hazard lights button is located when driving in a new vehicle.

As you gently lower your speed, keep a firm grip on the wheel at all times and don’t hit your brakes too hard, especially if the road conditions are wet or icy. Lack of power steering will make the wheel feel heavy in your hands, and it will also make the front wheels less responsive to your actions. Maintain keeping calm and ease into the brakes slowly.

Knowing what to do if you lose power steering eventually comes down to looking for a safe spot on the side of the road where you can pull over without incident. You will still be able to steer the vehicle, even if it’s more difficult. Remember that turning the wheel requires more effort as your vehicle slows down. Give yourself as much room to turn as possible. Even though the turning radius of the vehicle hasn’t changed, your ability to make that turn quickly will be reduced.

Once you get your vehicle to a safe spot, if the power steering is completely out, this may be the right time to call for a tow truck. Driving a vehicle with no power steering can be a challenge for even the best of drivers, so if you don’t feel safe driving, always side with caution and get help.

There are some signs you can be aware of that your power steering may soon be in need of repair. You may notice a whining or squealing noise. It could be difficult turning the steering wheel. You may notice a leak of power steering fluid near the steering gear or rack, this is usually a red fluid. Your vehicle may wanders or pulls to one side. This could be a premature steering gear is worn and or can be caused by lack of lubrication from power steering fluid.

If you are concerned about any of your power steering or you would like to have your steering inspected call the experts at Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Remember to always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Auto Catalytic Converter Repair With This Advice

Catalytic Converter Repair

Fullerton Catalytic Converter Repair

Catalytic converters play a crucial role in a vehicle’s exhaust system and are found in most modern street legal vehicles. Their function is to superheat unburned particles in exhaust gases and turn them into water vapor and carbon dioxide. The catalyst in the converter, typically made of platinum, rhodium, or palladium, can make it a target for theft due to its high value.

Replacing a catalytic converter is a complex process that requires welding, and is best left to professionals like those at Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton. It may also involve replacing the vehicle’s oxygen sensors. One of the leading causes of a failing catalytic converter is consistent short trips that don’t allow the exhaust to heat up enough to burn off deposits. To prevent this, it’s recommended to take the vehicle on a highway drive of at least 15 minutes every so often.

A failing catalytic converter may display symptoms such as a check engine light, decreased power and fuel efficiency, a rotten egg smell, backfiring or misfiring, and a rough running engine. If the converter is not functioning properly, the check engine light will come on and the engine’s power and fuel economy will drop. If the converter becomes completely clogged, the check engine light will flash and the engine may stall or not start. Extreme clogging can also cause internal engine damage from excess back pressure. A vehicle with a failing catalytic converter will fail a smog check and cannot be registered.

At Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton, we recommend addressing any catalytic converter related symptoms as soon as possible to prevent expensive repairs and engine damage. Regular maintenance, including highway drives, can extend the life of your catalytic converter and save you money in the long run.

If your vehicle has any of the above signs or you feel your catalytic converter needs an inspection call Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Finding The Right Auto Repair For Oxygen Sensor Repair

Oxygen Sensor Repair

Fullerton Oxygen Sensor Repair

The oxygen sensor is a vital component in a vehicle’s exhaust system, but many Fullerton drivers may not be aware of its significance in keeping their car performing safely and efficiently. It has a direct impact on emissions, and a faulty sensor can affect not just the engine, but the environment as well.

When an oxygen sensor fails, it can trigger the “check engine” light and reduce fuel economy. This sensor, which is the size of a spark plug, has a lifespan of 35,000 to 50,000 miles.

Most vehicles have at least one oxygen sensor in their exhaust system, which measures the difference in oxygen levels between the exhaust gas and outside air. It then sends a voltage signal to the car’s computer, which adjusts the air-fuel mixture to optimize engine performance.

If the sensor is not working correctly, it can lead to an increase in emissions and poor fuel efficiency. The engine may also default to a predetermined air-fuel mixture, resulting in either too rich or too lean a mixture, causing stuttering or loss of power. This can create deposits in the engine and cause damage to other components such as the catalytic converter, leading to bigger problems down the road.

However, drivers in Fullerton can rest easy knowing that Orozco’s Auto Service has the diagnostic tools to detect a faulty oxygen sensor. Their certified ASE technicians can replace it quickly and get drivers back on the road with a properly functioning engine that has optimized fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. By maintaining their vehicles and ensuring that the oxygen sensor is working correctly, drivers can help to protect the environment and improve air quality for everyone.

If you are concerned about your vehicle’s oxygen sensor or you would like to have a diagnostic test call or visit Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Who To Check Power Steering Fluid Near Me

Power Steering Repair Near Me

Fullerton Power Steering Fluid Near Me

Before driving your vehicle around Fullerton with a fluid leak, it is important to understand the potential consequences. For instance, a leak of power steering fluid on the ground or a low level in the reservoir can lead to accidents if unexpected situations arise and you cannot react quickly. Additionally, fluid leaks can cause damage to your car, which can be expensive to repair or replace.

If you suspect that your car has a power steering fluid leak, it may be possible to continue driving it until you can have the leak repaired and the fluid replaced by a professional auto service. However, it is crucial to monitor the leak and follow specific guidelines to avoid further damage. ASE certified mechanics at Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton can help you fix your power steering quickly and affordably.

It is important to address any power steering fluid leak as soon as possible. Even a small leak can worsen over time, and if the leak is due to a small crack in a hose, for example, it can quickly result in the loss of all your fluid in a short period. A loss of power steering fluid can significantly affect the drivability of your car. Your power steering rack will not function correctly, leading to a significant increase in steering effort, especially at low speeds, making it extremely difficult to steer.

Driving your car for extended periods without power steering fluid can cause damage to the pump. When the level drops, the pump runs dry, resulting in increased friction and heat that can quickly lead to expensive damage. If you need to drive your car with no power steering fluid, try to avoid extreme turns to the left or right, and replace the fluid as soon as possible.

If your vehicle is showing any of the above signs or you believe your vehicle’s needs it’s power steering fluid topped off or are not sure and would like to have your vehicle inspected, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239.  Always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Great Auto Repair Tips for Wheel Bearings Repair

Wheel Bearings Repair

Fullerton Wheel Bearings Repair

In Fullerton, many drivers are unaware of their vehicle’s wheel bearings and the risk of failure, which may require repairs. Knowing about this part and its function can help detect when repairs are necessary. Fortunately, Orozco’s Auto Service in Fullerton has professionals who can provide assistance in understanding wheel bearings, their function, and signs indicating the need for replacement.

Wheel bearings are essential in reducing friction, allowing wheels to spin smoothly. They are enclosed in small rings in the wheel hub assembly and come in two common types: ball bearings and roller bearings. Roller bearings are small cylinders located in a cylinder housing, easily accessible for repairs, but they can be contaminated by dirt and grime. Ball bearings, on the other hand, are sealed, keeping them free from dirt and grit, but they cannot be serviced and must be replaced if something goes wrong.

Generally, wheel bearings last between 75,000 and 100,000 miles, depending on the vehicle and driving conditions. Symptoms of failing wheel bearings include unusual noises like clicking, grinding, or humming, as well as uneven tire wear. Loose steering or vibrations in the steering wheel are also signs of potential issues. Wheel lock is a severe symptom indicating that the bearings are damaged to the point where they cease to move. A dashboard warning light may indicate that either the ABS or traction control system is malfunctioning.

If you detect any of these symptoms, it’s best to contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton and have the bearings replaced. Replacing a single bearing is usually not feasible, and the job typically requires replacing the entire wheel hub assembly. Delaying the replacement of failing wheel bearings could cause additional damage to your vehicle, so prompt replacement is recommended.

Helpful Hints For Those Needing Wheel Alignment

Wheel Alignment

If you’re driving along the 57 freeway in Fullerton and feel your vehicle pulling to one side when you release the steering wheel, it could be a cause for concern, especially on wet roads. To avoid the risk of accidents, it’s recommended that you take your car to Orozco’s Auto Service in Fullerton for a wheel alignment.

Proper wheel alignment is crucial because tires are the only contact point between your vehicle and the road. When your wheels are correctly aligned, the tires ride at the correct angle on the road. It’s suggested that you have your vehicle’s alignment checked every 6,000 miles or as advised by the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule. If you notice uneven tread wear, your car drifting to one side, or your steering wheel is off-center when driving straight, you should have it checked earlier.

During a wheel alignment service at Orozco’s Auto Service, your car is placed on an alignment rack, lifted, and checked for the current status of the alignment. Adjustments are made to the toe, caster, and camber angles (if applicable) to ensure that the wheels make the proper contact with the road. It’s important to note that wheel alignment and tire balancing are not the same, although they are often performed together. Balancing involves adjusting for subtle weight variations around each individual tire and wheel to ensure they spin straight without excess vibration or wobble.

Overall, proper wheel alignment is essential for your safety while driving, and it can also help prolong the lifespan of your tires and improve your ride comfort. If you suspect that your vehicle needs a wheel alignment, it’s important to take it to a reputable auto shop  such as Orozco’s Auto Service.

If your vehicle is showing any of the above signs or you believe your vehicle’s wheels are out of alignment or are not sure and would like to have your wheels inspected, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Oil Leak Repair

Fullerton Oil Leak Repair

In sunny Fullerton, California, residents often face the reality of engine oil leaks in their vehicles. This common automotive issue can quickly escalate if not addressed promptly. Knowing the symptoms, identifying the signs of a brake fluid leak, and seeking professional help from trusted auto mechanics like those at Orozco’s Auto Service can make all the difference in ensuring your vehicle’s longevity and safety on the road.

Symptoms of an Engine Oil Leak:

Puddles Under Your Car: A telltale sign of an engine oil leak is discovering puddles of dark, viscous fluid beneath your vehicle. These puddles can often be spotted in your driveway or parking spot.

Burning Smell: An engine oil leak can lead to oil dripping onto hot engine components, causing a distinct burning odor. If you notice a burning smell when driving or after parking, it may be indicative of an oil leak.

Low Oil Levels: Regularly check your vehicle’s oil levels using the dipstick. If you find that the oil level is consistently low between oil changes, it could be a sign of a leak.

Smoke or Steam from the Engine: When engine oil comes into contact with hot engine parts, it can produce smoke or steam. If you see either of these emerging from under the hood, it’s time to investigate further.

Signs of Brake Fluid Leaking:

Spongy Brake Pedal: If you notice that your brake pedal feels spongy or sinks to the floor when you apply pressure, it could be a sign of a brake fluid leak. This is a serious safety concern and should be addressed immediately.

Dashboard Warning Lights: Modern vehicles are equipped with warning lights for various systems, including the brake system. If your brake fluid level is low due to a leak, a warning light may illuminate on your dashboard.

Visible Brake Fluid Under the Car: Similar to engine oil leaks, brake fluid leaks can also leave puddles under your vehicle. Brake fluid is typically clear or slightly yellow, so if you see a clear, oily liquid under your car, it may be brake fluid.

Tips On Getting Your Oil And Filter Service

Oil and Filter Service

In sunny Fullerton, California, where the highways stretch for miles and at times the traffic can be relentless, keeping your vehicle in top shape is paramount. One of the most crucial aspects of car maintenance is ensuring that your engine is always running on fresh, clean oil. Failure to do so can lead to a host of issues that can not only damage your vehicle but also put your safety at risk. In this article, we’ll explore a real-life scenario in Fullerton, symptoms of old oil in your engine, and the exceptional services offered by Orozco’s Auto Service, including their two-year, 24,000-mile warranty.

Engine oil plays a pivotal role in your vehicle’s health by lubricating its various components, reducing friction, and regulating temperature. Over time, oil breaks down and becomes less effective, losing its viscosity and lubricating properties. This can lead to increased wear and tear on the engine, decreased fuel efficiency, and even engine overheating.

Signs to Look for if Your Engine Oil is Old

Recognizing the signs of old engine oil is essential for preventing costly repairs down the road. Some common indicators include:

Dirty and Dark Oil: Fresh engine oil is amber in color, but as it ages, it darkens and becomes sludgy due to the accumulation of contaminants.

Engine Knocking or Tapping: When oil loses its lubricating properties, you may hear unusual sounds from the engine, such as knocking or tapping, which signal increased friction and wear.

Decreased Fuel Efficiency: Old oil can’t perform its role efficiently, resulting in increased friction and reduced fuel efficiency.

Warning Lights: Modern vehicles are equipped with warning lights that may illuminate when oil levels are low or when the oil is in poor condition.

If you notice any of these signs, it’s time to schedule an oil change to keep your engine running smoothly and efficiently.

When it comes to automotive maintenance and repairs in Fullerton, you can rely on Orozco’s Auto Service. Their team of professional auto mechanics and service advisors understands the unique needs of California drivers and the importance of regular oil changes.

At Orozco’s Auto Service, you’ll find expert technicians who use high-quality oils and filters to ensure your engine stays in peak condition. They follow manufacturer recommendations for oil change intervals and tailor their services to your vehicle’s specific requirements.

Furthermore, Orozco’s Auto Service stands behind their work with a remarkable two-year, 24,000-mile warranty. This warranty reflects their commitment to customer satisfaction and the confidence they have in the quality of their service.

In conclusion, timely automotive oil changes are not just a routine maintenance task; they are a crucial aspect of ensuring your vehicle’s longevity and safety. Safe Driving Tips From Orozco’s of Fullerton

Safe Driving Tips

Fullerton Vehicle Safety Inspections

At Orozco’s Auto Service we value every customer and their families. With that being said we would like to share a few safe driving tips because, safe driving in Fullerton California is a fundamental aspect that cannot be overstated. Whether you’re a new driver or an experienced one, practicing safe driving habits is crucial for your well-being and that of others on our Fullerton roads. With advancements in automotive technology, we have more tools than ever to help us drive safely, but it’s important to remember that the responsibility ultimately lies with the driver. In this article, we will explore the importance of automotive safe driving and some essential tips to ensure a safer journey.

Safe driving is not just a legal requirement; it is a moral obligation. Each time we get behind the wheel, we hold the lives of ourselves, our passengers, and others on the road in our hands. The consequences of reckless or distracted driving can be devastating, including injuries, loss of life, and property damage. Safe driving, on the other hand, is a collective effort to reduce the risk of accidents and make our roads safer for everyone.

Orozco’s Auto Service’s Safe Driving Tips!

Avoid Distractions: Distracted driving is a leading cause of accidents. Avoid using your phone, texting, or engaging in activities that divert your attention from the road. Utilize hands-free options for calls and navigation if necessary.

Obey Speed Limits: Speed limits are set for a reason. Excessive speed reduces your reaction time and increases the severity of accidents. Adhering to speed limits is a simple yet effective way to enhance road safety.

Maintain a Safe Following Distance: Always maintain a safe distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you. This allows for better reaction time and reduces the risk of rear-end collisions.

Use Turn Signals: Proper use of turn signals communicates your intentions to other drivers. Signaling your turns, lane changes, and merges ensures smoother traffic flow and reduces the chances of surprises on the road.

Wear Seatbelts: Seatbelts are your first line of defense in a collision. Always buckle up, and ensure that all passengers in your vehicle do the same.

Adhere to Traffic Laws: Follow all traffic laws and regulations, including stopping at red lights and stop signs, yielding the right of way, and respecting pedestrian crossings.

Be Mindful of Weather Conditions: Adjust your driving to match the weather conditions. Slow down in rain, snow, or fog, and ensure your vehicle is equipped with appropriate tires for the season.

Avoid Driving Under the Influence: Never drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substances that impair your judgment and reaction time. Plan for a designated driver or alternative transportation if needed.

Stay Alert and Rested: Fatigue can be as dangerous as impairment. Get enough sleep before long journeys, and take breaks to stay alert and refreshed.

Respect Other Drivers: Practicing patience and courtesy on the road can prevent road rage and aggressive driving, reducing the risk of confrontations and accidents.

Maintaining Your Vehicle for Safety: Regular vehicle maintenance is equally essential, if not more so, than adhering to the safety tips mentioned earlier. Numerous components of a vehicle can deteriorate over time, potentially jeopardizing your safety. Orozco’s Auto Service offers comprehensive vehicle inspections to confirm that all your vehicle’s vital components, such as brakes and steering, are functioning correctly. Prioritizing vehicle maintenance ensures your safety on the road.

Automotive safe driving is a collective responsibility that we all share when we get behind the wheel. These are just a few of the many safe driving habits out there. The importance of following safe driving practices cannot be overstated. By staying vigilant, avoiding distractions, keeping your vehicle maintained and respecting traffic laws, we can significantly reduce the risk of accidents and make our roads safer for everyone. Remember that safe driving is not only about following rules; it’s about protecting lives and ensuring a more harmonious and secure transportation system for all.

If you would like to have your vehicle inspected, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 714-525-3239. Please always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Clutch Repair Tips You Need To Know

Clutch Repair

Fullerton Clutch Repair

You press the clutch pedal, and it feels different—stiffer and less responsive than before. These are the symptoms of a failing clutch, a scenario that many drivers in Fullerton may have encountered. In such situations, it’s crucial to understand the signs of a deteriorating clutch and where to turn for professional repair services. Orozco’s Auto Service in Fullerton offers the clutch repair expertise and a fantastic two-year, 24,000-mile warranty for your clutch repair needs.

Recognizing the symptoms of a deteriorating clutch is the first step to addressing the issue. Here are some common scenarios Fullerton drivers may encounter:

Slipping Clutch: When your clutch starts to slip, you’ll notice a sudden increase in engine RPM without a corresponding increase in vehicle speed. This can make it challenging to maintain speed and control, especially on steep Fullerton hills.

Unusual Noises: A failing clutch often produces strange sounds, like grinding, squeaking, or rattling, when you engage or disengage the clutch pedal. These noises can be a clear sign that something is amiss.

Difficulty Shifting Gears: If you find it increasingly challenging to shift between gears smoothly, even with the clutch pedal fully engaged, it’s time to have your clutch system inspected.

Increased Pedal Resistance: A stiff and unresponsive clutch pedal is a common indication of a failing clutch. Fullerton’s stop-and-go traffic can make this issue especially frustrating.

When you experience any of these symptoms, it’s essential to act promptly. Ignoring a failing clutch can lead to more extensive and costly repairs down the road. To ensure the safety and reliability of your vehicle, look for these signs:

Poor Fuel Efficiency: A slipping clutch can lead to increased fuel consumption, costing you more money at Fullerton’s gas pumps.

Burning Smell: A noticeable burning smell, similar to burnt paper or rubber, can indicate clutch plate overheating due to excessive slipping.

Reduced Acceleration: If your car feels sluggish, even when the engine is revving, your clutch may be to blame.

Check Engine Light Diagnostics Advice From Expert Mechanics

Check Engine Light

The next time your car needs repairs, consider doing them yourself. These days, a majority of car owners will hire a mechanic regardless of how simple the problem may be. This article can be your guide for car repairs. This will allow you to save money, and give you a feeling of accomplishment.

TIP! Keep on hand all of your car’s documentation. One good place to keep them is in a folder in the trunk right above your spare tire.

Ask questions to the mechanics who inspect your vehicle. Find out what caused the issues, and ask what you can do so this does not happen again. Preventing vehicle issues is a great way of saving money annually.

TIP! If your taillight or headlight burns out, you may save a ton repairing them yourself. It is simple to do on some cars and can save you a lot of money.

Before allowing an auto shop to do repairs to your vehicle, ensure you are aware of the total cost. When you’re not sure, ask until you feel clear. You don’t want to be surprised by unexpected charges.

TIP! It pays to keep track of your regularly scheduled oil changes. Oil has to be changed often for a car to perform properly.

It is not always necessary to call a repairman when you have car trouble. Quite a few automotive issues can be done yourself. Try troubleshooting the issue on the Internet or talk to your friends to see if they have an idea of what could be wrong with your vehicle. It’s not too hard to do, and you’ll be able to get money saved back to start repairing things.

TIP! In the winter, you still need to wash your car. Your car may get dirty again quickly, but all that buildup is terrible for your car.

Each time you get your vehicle repaired, no matter what the reason, be sure you have a record of it. If the car has other issues later, it can help the tech see its past records. Not having any repair history on the vehicle can lead to more problems for the mechanic.

TIP! Repairing your car yourself could be hazardous. Always have someone close at hand to help you in case of emergency.

You might feel intimidated when you first learn about auto repair. However, if you just learn a little and take some time, you’ll be able to get things fixed in your vehicle most of the time. Simply use the tips mentioned here, and your vehicle is going to run like new soon.
